In an open interview, Michael J. Fox detailed living with Parkinson’s disease and recognizing he would die from it. He also discussed his opinions on mortality, death, and the disease.
The 61-year-old Hollywood star breaks the terrible news that his illness means Michael J. Fox won’t live to see his 80th birthday.
He received his initial Parkinson’s diagnosis in 1991, when he was just 29 years old, and made the announcement to the world nine years later.
Michael is scheduled to participate in a series of interviews to talk about his experiences living with Parkinson’s after decades of campaigning, raising money, and increasing public awareness of the condition.
In a open interview from his appearance on CBS Sunday Morning, he said, “My life is set up so…I can pack Parkinson’s along with me if I have to.”
The actor continues, “You don’t die from Parkinson’s. The disease made me reevaluate my outlook on life. You pass away from Parkinson’s.
Michael J. Fox continues by saying that persons who have the condition run the risk of incurring deadly injuries including choking, tripping, or falling.
He said, heartbreakingly: “I’ve been contemplating the mortality of it… I won’t live to be 80.
“When I was diagnosed, I had a tiny twitch in my pinky, but with this, we can identify the disease really early, help progression, and essentially cure ahead of time,” the patient said.
He did admit that he had issues with his own health.
I’m not going to lie, it’s getting harder, Michael J. Fox admitted to the publication.
The Back to the Future actor will be shown investigating and addressing his illness in the documentary Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie, which is scheduled to premiere on Apple TV+ the following month.
