Vaibhavi Upadhyaya, well known for her role as Jasmine in the wildly popular 2000s sitcom ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai,’ has died in a vehicle accident.
The event occurred in Himachal Pradesh, according to an ETimes story. The actress and her boyfriend were driving in a car when the vehicle lost control on a sharp bend.
‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai‘ producer JD Matheja broke the news in an emotional Instagram post. “Life is a roller coaster. Vaibhavi Upadhyay, commonly known as ‘Jasmine’ from Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, died. She was a wonderful performer. She was involved in an accident in the north. The family will accompany her to Mumbai for the final rites tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. “Rest in peace, Vaibhavi (sic),” reads
Several of her colleagues in the industry also lamented her premature death. Rupali Ganguly (of ‘Anupamaa’ fame) paid respect to her ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’ co-star on Instagram. She captioned a photo of the actress on her Instagram Story, “Gone too soon Vaibhavi!”
On Twitter, actor Deven Bhojani also paid respect to the actress.
On May 25, Upadhya’s mortal remains will be transferred to Mumbai. Following that, her last rites will be performed.
Upadhyaya was well-known in Gujarati theatrical circles as well as on the small screen. Aside from ‘Sarabhai versus Sarabhai,’ she has been in cult sitcoms like as ‘CID,’ ‘Adaalat,’ ‘Kya Qusoor Hai Amala Ka,’ and others. She also appeared in Deepika Padukone’s 2020 film ‘Chhapaak’ and the online series ‘Please Find Attached’.
